Do you have a team. What suggestions do you have?

Ok since this is small talk. I think we should all talk about if we are on a team and stuff, and what you do to get better stuff like that.
Being the starter of this thread I'll start.
Well, I have a 3 man team with 4 people right now. We sometimes switch out a person or if someone can't make it we can still play. Obviously practice makes perfect but at our local field, we do alot of scenario style games. They do have a speedball and airball field though. So we ask them to play on it sometimes as team practice. Now as a tip to all of you. Get to know the owner of the field. Talk to him about what you can do to possibly squeeze in some extra practice. Now my field as many fields do require you buy their field paint. Which of course is usually very expensive. So what we do is, we made a deal with the owner. Every time we come to practice we help out them in getting set up in the morning and getting ready to pack up at the end of the day. In return they open up their competition fields and let us play with our own paint as practice. Now I've listen a few things. Let's hear what you guys have. The whole point of this thread is for tips for teams to give to eachother to hopefully help everyone be more successful.

well make shure your guys are serious and commited
wen u practice dont just run games do all the fundamentals (snap shooting, break outs, running nad gunning, ect)
also get with othewr teams in the area and scrimmage playing teams better than u helps
i know i play rookie cfoa and we scrimage novice teams

we have a sponsership with our feild kinda the same as yours dnick
were we get exclusive feild time in exchange for reffing proomting thre feild ect

I've got another thing to add which we will be doing next tourney we're in. All the time we play, we usually glance at the field and then just play. This time I am going to walk the field for about a half hour and really get a good feel for the field and where every thing is located and where enemies could be and battle plans.

I like suggestion about the snap shooting and break outs. Our team needs to practice that. We've got the gun handling skills but I've noticed a few of my teamates have sloppy form when sticking out of a bunker.

If you want to be competitive in tournies be prepared to commit a ton of time to the team and getting better. Practicing as a team every weekend to start, working on snap shooting against eachother and getting your form better will help.

As far as walking the field, be prepared to spend more than half an hour looking at the field if you do not have the layout before hand, even then atleast half an hour is necessary. For CFOA we walk the fields for literally hours before the tourney, and still have more to see.


Work on making it so that your teammates and you have good trust in eachother, and that you will be able to understand and will do what your teammates ask of you. If you start doing better then ask the local field to give you a break on paint and a sponsorship, which is a huge boost.

when im the captian of my team
example when we have 2 rosters in a torney
i take every player on my team and go to every bunker and look at every angle so if your a bak man u know that your guy in snake 2 sees along with your 15 courner ect

Marker skill is all about how much of a target you present to your opponents when you come out of your bunker. The teammates you speak of have a lot to work on if they can't make themselves small. They will lose gunfights in a hurry, and will have trouble in the more difficult scenarios, such as 2v1, 3v1, getting trapped in small bunkers, etc.

Yes, as far as handling their gun they are great, they need some work on snaps, and making only enough stick out as needed to be able to shoot. I just hope they can get their act together before August 27. There is a tourney coming up near us and 1st prize is E-Tek Egos.

besides that. how about getting a hopperfull of reballs and playing in your front yard on semi? you can use whatever you find just one on ones. just snap shoot and stuff.

A few drills I would suggest Ill just give you what they work on and what the drill is

Running and Gunning
set up a field like you would see for a tournament then take traffic cones or poles with buckets on them and put them behind the important bunkers. Then you have your player run down the middle of the field shooting each cone and switching hands. Run this drill many times as it helps immensely. According to Sergey a good time is <11 seconds while hitting every cone.

Running and Gunning & sweetspotting/laning
One player starts at each deadbox one player is running to the corner bunker shooting at the other player, while the other is shooting the lane to the same bunker, after the runner makes his bunker he shoots at a cone set up just out side his mirror. If you want to add another part after the runner hits his mirror he runs downfield shooting 2 other traffic cones set up.

Snap Shooting
do this at home and tell your players to as well, set up a chair or something like a bunker in front of a full size mirror. just practice your form and staying tight while still getting shots off.

Snap Shooting
set up two mirrors and just have them shoot at eachother, or also do this with 2 snake players snapping from different knuckles of the snake. Also do this with one player posted on the other.

general skills
2v1/3v1/3v2 etc basically teaches you to finish games while also working on playing when down bodies and staying tight.

general skills
circle of death- one on one using a field with about 6 bunkers set up to mirror eachother with a time limit of 30 seconds. If you stay still you will lose.

Breakouts
run the first ten seconds of a game only basically work on getting out of the start box and getting into your bunkers, and having your backmen see where the other team goes.

Communication
during scrimmages have your backman yell a "code word" something completely random like Monkeys or Bananas by the end of the game the entire team should know what the code word is.

General Skills
The 7 man drill, set up one team of 3 and two teams of 2. the team of three has to beat both teams and hang the flag within a set limit we use 3-4 minutes. How it works is theres Team A(3 ppl) Team B(2 ppl) Team C(2 ppl) Team A starts at one deadbox which team C is behind waiting for the second game. If a player on Team A is eliminated then he is gone for the second game as well. Assuming TEam A sins the first game they instantly turn around at the deadbox and play Team C and they should win the game before time runs out.

but ive never done the circle of death
or the 3 v2v2
will have to try those yetti

both are really good drills
the 7 man drill is really good work on closing games aggressively
and Circle of death is another drill to make you more aggressive
